  • Harley Street Specialist Hospital in London on an ad hoc basis
  • NHS clinics are on Friday mornings at Northampton General Hospital

His private practice is managed by Michele & Vicki Elwill, who will be pleased to arrange a convenient appointment. An appointment is usually possible within a week of making contact.

Before attending we strongly recommend you seek authorisation from your private medical insurer.

No referral letter is required for self funding patients, but a letter from your GP or physiotherapist is helpful.

If you already had scans done at another hospital please let us know in advance so we can arrange transfer of your images electronically before your consultation.

A new patient consultation is 30 minutes and a follow up for 15 minutes, but consultation lengths do vary depending on the complexity of the problem.

If required X-rays, joint injections and plaster casting can usually be done on the same say (additional charges do apply for each of these).

Other investigations such as CT, MRI, Ultrasound & Bone Density (DEXA) scans will usually be arranged within 7-10 days.

*Chaperones are always available for consultations and procedures.

If you already seen seen another specialist or had scans done at another hospital, please bring copies of any letters. For scans please let us know in advance where you had those done so we can request these electronically (this usually takes 2-3 days).

It is suggested you wear clothing that allows examination of the problem area. For ladies with shoulder problems a sports top or sleeveless top is usually most appropriate.

Alistair's NHS practice is at Northampton General Hospital. An appointment to see him needs to be made through via the NHS Choose and Book service. This requires you to first been seen by your GP, who may also organise an X-ray, a scan, or a course of physiotherapy. Before seeing a consultant you may first be referred to a physio-led Assessment Service.

The current waiting time to see Alistair in clinic is 2-4 months, and the wait for surgery is an additional 2-4 months.

Working with him in his clinic, Alistair usually has either a specialist Upper Limb Fellow or a Specialist Registrar, and a Surgical Care Practitioner. All of the team see new patients independently, as well as seeing post-operative follow-ups.

Alistair does not see NHS patients at the BMI Three Shires or Ramsay Woodland Hospitals.
