About
Meet Alistair
Alistair qualified from the University of Birmingham in 1994. His subsequent postgraduate surgical training was in London, including Guy’s & St. Thomas’, St Mary’s and Chelsea & Westminster Hospitals.
Having established an interest in upper limb surgery he then did two specialist fellowships; the first in Brisbane, Australia, within one of Queensland’s largest tertiary referral hospitals, the Princess Alexandra Hospital, and the second at the prestigious Pulvertaft Hand Unit in Derby.
He started his current position as consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Northampton General Hospital in November 2005. His primary interest has always been the upper limb, with much of his operating being arthroscopic (small keyhole incisions) to the shoulder, elbow and wrist joints, and open surgery for such things as joint replacement and fixation of upper limb fractures.
In the NHS Alistair takes an active role in teaching medical students and trainee surgeons.
His private practice is managed by Michele Elwill, who would be pleased to arrange a convenient appointment.
Alistair does not currently undertake medico legal work (neither personal injury litigation nor medical negligence cases).
